First Day on the Job

(Group 3 of Pictures)
As Zoellla walked up to the big red barn over looking a crystal blue lake, one thing was for certain.  She was nervous.  She had worked with horses all her life but they were all western.  She had never worked in an English Showbarn.  Shelooked upat the white sign holding the name of the farm, Birch Acres Paso Fino Farm.  It was the home of the dancing horses.
When she walked into the office, there was an older man in a pinstripe suit rocking in an old rocking chair.  "Excuse me", she piped up,"are you Mr. Birch?"  He turned around to face her with a smile.  "Please! Call me Duke! You must be the new farmhand. What is your name?"  "Zoella", She replied warming up to him quickly.  "Annie should be here to show you around in a few, let me introduce you to the others."  He led her into a room containing tons of stacked tires and farm equipment.  She saw two girls and a boy that appeared to be around her age.  "This is Roxi, Louise, and this young man is Alex." Duke says with a nod.
They introduced themselves when a silver car pulled up the gravel drive.  A lady with blonde hair and harsh features steps out.  "Hello, you mustt be Zoella. I'm Annie, let me show you around."  She leads her into a barn where whineys fill her ears.  "This is where the crossties are, your grooming equipment will be found here. The mares are in this section also."  She points down the line and names off each horse.  Vitta is a dark brown color, Fancy is a fadded brown color, DeeBee and Carrie are Chestnut, and Catalina is solid black.  We walk through a dusty arena into where the stalions are kept called stud row.  All of the stallions are so beautiful.  There is Oro Blanca, El Salvador,Dango; who is gelded, and Monarcha.  Annie gives Zoella directions on what to do everyday and she gets right to it.  She sprays the arena for upcoming lessons, and cleans all of the stalls.  By the time she is done with that, it is almost time for the first rider to get here.  She takes Carrie out of her stall and ties her in the crossties. She had just got done grooming and saddling her when she arrived.  During the lesson, Carrie started to spook.  The rider wasn't prepared for it and didn't know what to do.  Zoella stepped in and calmed Carrie down just as Annie came back.  "Well, you sure have a natural ability with horses.", she says startling Zoella.  She thanks her and Annie asks her if she would like to start rideing and competeing in shows.  Zoella quickly agrees.  She is now a professional Dressage rider and is working towards her first trainers title.
